There are 2 main purposes for Plastic Cover Injection Mold polishing:  1, to increase the brightness of plastic mold; 2, make product easy to de-mould.


Generally, we will use rough oilstone for rough polishing on machined mold cavity surface to remove the machining marks, then use the fine oilstone to remove the rough oilstone polishing marks. After that, use the fine sandpaper to remove the fine oilston polishing marks. Finally, use the polishing paste to polish the plastic mold to reach the shiny surface.

 

Commonly, there are 6 polishing ways for Plastic Switch Panel Mold:

 

1.Mechanical polishing

Mechanical polishing generally use oilstone, felt wheel, sandpaper to get a smooth surface. High quality requirement surface can use ultra-fine grinding method. Ultra-fine grinding method uses special grinder with special abrasive on the surface to make high-speed rotary motion, it can make the surface roughness reaching Ra0.008μm. It is the highest level of polishing and widely used in Optical lens mold.

 

2.Chemical polishing

Chemical polishing, in the action of chemical intermediate, makes the protruding parts priority dissolution than concave parts to get smooth surface. The advantages for this method are workable for complicated Vacuum Casting Parts, high efficiency for polishing lots of parts at the same time, no need of complex equipment. The most important thing for chemical polishing is the preparation of polishing liquid. Generally, the surface roughness will reach 10μm.

 

3. Electro Polishing

Electro Polishing is basically the same as chemical polishing, that is, make the surface smooth by priority dissolution the protruding parts. Compared with chemical polishing, it will get better effect than chemical polishing and make the surface roughness with Ra<1μm.

 

4.Ultrasonic polishing

Putting the product and abrasive suspension into ultrasonic field together, relying on the shocks of ultrasonic, it will make product’s surface polished by abrasive suspension. It will not cause any deformation because of its small polishing strength. Ultrasonic polishing can be combined with chemical method and electro method to reach a better surface.

 

5.Fluid polishing

Fluid polishing rely on high-speed flow of liquid and its carried abrasive to polishing the surface. The commonly ways are abrasive jet processing, liquid jet processing, hydrodynamic grinding and so on.

 

6. Magnetic grinding polishing

Magnetic grinding polishing use magnetic abrasive with the action of magnetic field to polish the surface. With the advantages of high efficiency, top quality, good working conditions and easy control processing conditions, the surface roughness can reach Ra0.1μm.
